Brain Injury |
|
|
Brain Injury is divided into those acquired, such as a stroke/aneurysm and MS, and
those from an outside force, called Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). The Second Impact
Syndrome (SIS) is a sports accident related Traumatic Brain Injury. There are more
than 1.5 million people affected. Knowing that everyone is unique, Dr. Diane, who
is trained in a number of techniques and therapies, will work with you to find the
most appropriate treatment for you.
|
 |
Concussion |
|
|
Concussion is a Brain Injury where there is the loss of consciousness (or awareness
of one's environment) for up to 1 hour. After 1 hour, it is called a Coma. Dr. Diane

concussion and multiple TBIs to provide you with the highest level of service to
help heal the body, mind and spirit.

approach for Peak Performance, she helps athletes in their recovery from chronic
pain, concussion, and repetitive sports injuries that are affecting their performance.
Dr. Diane actively participates in many training workshops to continue to stay abreast
of current trends and cutting edge treatments. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC) estimates that about three hundred thousand people experience
mild to moderate concussions each year as a result of sports injuries.
|
 |
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) |
|
|
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) means an injury to the brain from an outside force
where there has been both a Concussion and Amnesia. Thus, a TBI includes both impaired
consciousness and amnesia, the inability to recall events either prior to or after
the cause of loss of consciousness. Traumatic Brain Injury is sudden physical damage
to the brain. The damage may be caused by the head forcefully hitting an object
such as the dashboard of a car (closed head injury) or by something passing through
the skull and piercing the brain, as in a gunshot wound (penetrating head injury).
Dr Diane sustained 3 TBIs (two auto accidents and brain surgery).
|
 |
Stroke/Aneurysm |
|
|
Dr. Diane, who sustained an aneurysm, has developed and designed treatment programs
to give the maximum amount of recovery possible for stroke victims. A stroke occurs
when the blood supply to a part of the brain is interrupted or severely reduced
depriving brain tissue of oxygen and nutrients. Within a few minutes brain cells
begin to die.
